Game Controller support coming to Power Prompter

We’re happy to announce that with the next update Power Prompter is going to support game controllers (XBox, PlayStation, Siri Remote and many other 3rd party game controllers).

In the first iteration there will be a fixed control layout but we’re working on a way for you to customize the controller mapping to your liking.

Power Prompter 2022.8 is scheduled to be released in the last week of August 2022.

Power Prompter 2022 Update

Hi there, we just released the 2022 Update for Power Prompter.

While this isn’t a huge feature update we did quiet a lot of work on the back end. Power Prompter now works even better on older Macs and is future proof for the upcoming Apple Silicon processors and macOS updates.

We also added a German localization. Now German users can enjoy their favorite Mac teleprompter in German 🙂

Power Prompter 2021.5

We’re happy to announce that the latest update of Power Prompter is now available.

Power Prompter 2021.5’s main new feature is the dedicated transparent teleprompter window which has been designed to work with meeting software like Zoom or MS Teams.

You can turn the window fully transparent and pin it to the top so the window will stay above all other apps. Now you can read your script and follow the meeting at the same time!

Power Prompter now native on Apple Silicon

We’re happy to announce that we just released the native build of Power Prompter for Apple Silicon.

Macs with Apple’s M1 chip can now run Power Prompter at full speed.

Enjoy!

Power Promoter on macOS 11 Big Sur and Apple Silicon M1 Macs

We’re happy to announce that Power Prompter works flawlessly with the new macOS 11 “Big Sur” update.

It also works without any issues on new Macs with the M1 Apple Silicon CPU.

Currently the app still runs in Rosetta but we’ll be releasing a native M1 build very soon!

Power Prompter 2020.5

We just released the 2020.5 update of Power Prompter. It comes with a few bug fixes regarding the display inspector (keeping display settings when you relaunch the app).

We also added a new feature: An optional progress bar at the bottom of the teleprompter window.

The update is available now from our servers for direct purchase customers and should go live within the next few days for our Mac App Store customers.

Using iPad as a display for Power Prompter

We just added a new guide to the Power Prompter documentation: How to use your iPad as a wireless display for Power Prompter.

Power Prompter 2020.3 & 2020.4

Recently we released the 2020.3 update and just two days later the 2020.4 update.

The 2020.3 update brought support for the Touchbar on recent MacBook Pro models, added a new overlay named “Expanse” and fixed a bug where text flip would reset whenever prompting was started from the editor window.

The 2020.4 update then fixed a bug that was introduced with the Touchbar support.

Initially we planned to add a speed slider to the touch bar. Which then turned out to cause performance issues. Sadly updating the touch bar seems to slow down teleprompter rendering. So whenever the speed slider was updated to a new value the teleprompter would slow down.

That’s why we removed the speed slider for now. We plan to bring it back once we figure out how to work around the performance regression.

Power Prompter 2020.2

The new Power Prompter update is here. It’s a minor update which brings the following changes:

  • The teleprompter window features now a scroll speed label above the speed slider. By default it displays the speed as percent. But you can switch through different units (word/second, words/minute, lines/second, lines/minute) by clicking on the label.
  • Spawning new teleprompter windows by pressing CMD-T while a teleprompter window has keyboard focus works again.
  • Fixed a bug that would randomly bring teleprompter windows into the foreground whenever playback was initiated. (This happened only when more than one prompter window was active).
  • Fixed a bug that would display ugly scroll bars in the display list when a mouse was connected to the system.

The update is available now from the Mac App Store or from the update feature of the direct download version of Power Prompter (Menu: Power Prompter -> Check for updates…).

Power Prompter 2020.1 Update brings Bookmarks

The first update in 2020 to Power Prompter – aptly named 2020.1 – comes with a much requested feature: Bookmarks.

Now you can drop bookmarks within your scripts and quickly jump to them. Power Prompter automatically creates keyboard shortcuts for each bookmark (CMD + [NUMBER]) so you can always quickly access your bookmarked locations.

Refer to our online help “Bookmarks” section for a more in-depth guide or just go and explore the new “Bookmarks” menu in the app. It’s not that complicated to get up and running – but it’s a huge boost to productivity.

We also adjusted the Touchpad sensitivity a little when it comes to performing scroll speed changes. Now you have finer control over scroll speed when using your Macbook’s built-in Touchpad. If you’d like to have back the old sensitivity you can always adjust this setting in the “General” preferences under “Scroll Wheel Sensitivity”.

Another change that’s new in this version is that the editor won’t be scrolling automatically when you engage teleprompting mode. This change has been made necessary to by macOS Catalina’s new Text View which is more CPU hungry than previous iterations and could cause stuttering on even the newest and most powerful Macs. We hope Apple will fix the issue – but until then editor autoscrolling is disabled by default. But can be re-enabled via the “View -> Scroll editor during teleprompting” menu item.

The update is available now via either the app’s auto-update feature or via the Mac App Store. The complete changelog can be found here.
